East Shore District Health Department (ESDHD) staff are available on weekdays before 8:30 AM and after 4:30 PM as well as weekends to address environmental and other public health emergencies.

Environmental health emergencies include but are not limited to fire or other damages to food establishments, severe storms, food poisoning, major sanitation or pollution, events, rental housing conditions where occupants may have to be relocated, extended power outages in retail areas (over four (4) hours), sanitary sewer backups in homes or food establishments when the water pollution control authority (WPCA) is unable to respond, and indoor air quality problems—especially carbon monoxide (CO).

Other public health emergencies include but are not limited to epidemics or sudden mass illness, emergency medical or shelter assistance.
