Emergency Preparedness
East Shore District Health Department is committed to helping you and your family when in crisis from:
- Bioterrorism
- Radiation Emergency
- Disease Outbreak
- Chemical Emergency
- Event with Mass Casualties
- Natural Disaster or Severe Weather
ESDHD has developed plans for mass vaccination and distribution of medicines in response to an emergency public health threat, such as smallpox or pandemic flu. This is part of the Mass Distribution Area (MDA) Region 21 response that services Branford, East Haven, and North Branford, as well as Madison and Guilford. Providing quick and accurate information in response to a disaster, whether it is natural or man-made, is key. We have developed a risk communication plan for a variety of situations to assist the public quickly and effectively.
When disaster strikes or public health is compromised we rely on volunteers as much as the American Red Cross.
