Cosmetology/Body Care Program

The ESHD Cosmetology and Body Care Program covers various establishments including hair and nail salons, estheticians, massage, tattoo and others. ESHD permits approximately 300 of these establishments. Cosmetology inspections typically occur on an annual basis, though additional inspections occur when warranted.

Cosmetology/Body Care permits renew annually on March 1^st. Renewal notices typically go out in January.

Opening a New Establishment?

1. Complete the Cosmetology Plan Review Form. Once review packet and payment are received, a Sanitarian will be assigned to review your submission. Once approved, the approval paperwork will be sent to the Town.
2. Complete the Cosmetology Permit Application with applicable fee. Sign-offs are required from Town Departments (departments are listed on the application).
3. The assigned Sanitarian will conduct a pre-operational inspection.
4. Permit will be issued following a successful pre-operational inspection; confirmation that permit fee is paid and all Town Departments provide sign-off.
