Water Safety Week, June 23-28, 2008
Governor M. Jodi Rell announced today that the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and the Connecticut Alliance of YMCAs are teaming up to help make certain Connecticut’s families are safe at the beach or swimming pool this summer by sponsoring numerous activities for a Water Safety Week and offering free swim lessons at YMCAs and state parks.

Connecticut State Police and the Department of Public Safety Office of the State Fire Marshal want to remind everyone, that fireworks are illegal in the State of Connecticut. The public has been overwhelmed with advertisement, signs, and sales pitches of so-called fireworks. It is important to understand that the only legal “Fireworks” items in Connecticut are sparklers.
